‘Twas July 28^th, when Santa felt the need for vacation,

So he loaded up the RV (no need for a train station)

Then quickly to South Carlsbad State Beach did he flee

With surfboards, sunscreen, and a heart filled with glee

Reindeer, campers, and surfers, were all there,

Everyone relaxing with hardly a care.

But Santa had a secret he just couldn’t keep,

“I’ve packed some prizes. In fact quite a heap!”

In order to win a most fabulous prize,

Find a Camp Host (they’re all fairly wise)

And offer them five dollars, or maybe a twenty

And you’ll receive chances to win prizes aplenty!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

How much are the opportunity drawing tickets to win a free week of camping at South Carlsbad State Beach or San Elijo State Beach, and where do I buy them? Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 or 30 for $100. They are available from any Camp Host at the campgrounds.

How does the Grand Prize of a Free Week of Camping work? Winners get a certificate with special contact information. They are able to get an oceanfront site at South Carlsbad or San Elijo without calling ReserveAmerica. They are given a small selection of sites to pick from. There are no blackout dates but their reservation must be made at least two weeks in advance and is subject to site availability.

Where do the proceeds of this fundraiser go? Ticket sales benefit Friends of Cardiff & Carlsbad State Beaches (FCCSB), a 501 C 3 non-profit that puts all of the money back into the beaches from Cardiff to Carlsbad. FCCSB was formed in 2009.

When will the winners be announced? At the Christmas in July free family event on July 28th at South Carlsbad State Beach and posted at our web site FCCSB.org

Do I have to be present to win? No, Santa will call the winners.

Can I purchase tickets by mail? Yes, send a check made out to FCCSB to Bill Mahoney, FCCSB, PO Box 232363, Encinitas, CA 92023-2363.

Do I have to be camping at South Carlsbad to attend Christmas in July? No, the event is free and open to the public. Registered campers from San Elijo can park at South Carlsbad that day for free by displaying their San Elijo camping registration pass.

If I just want to bring the family down for the day to come for Christmas in July, where can I park? On that day only, we offer a special Parking Pass in a dedicated area close to the event for $10, which also includes two free $5 drawing tickets.

What events are included in Christmas in July? There are educational games for children (every child gets a prize), music with “DJ Dave” Russell, food booths, Santa’s parade through the campground, one-on-one visits with Santa at the campfire center, a Silent Auction and the Prize Drawing.

Besides the free week of camping, what other prizes are given out? Up to 25 other prizes such as surfboards, skateboards, restaurant gift cards and gift certificates to surf shops.

How long has Christmas in July been held? This will be the Fifth Annual event.

I have a used surfboard or other sports gear item I would like to donate, is that OK? Yes, good quality used surfboards, snowboards and bikes, plus other new and used sports gear items, are auctioned off in the Silent Auction.
